On February 12, 2024, WRI India, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), convened a multistakeholder dialogue in New Delhi titled "Pathways for India’s Low-Carbon and Climate Resilient Development." The event aimed to facilitate discussions on India’s Long-Term Low-Emissions Development Strategy (LT-LEDS) and to identify priority areas for research and capacity-building to strengthen climate planning and implementation at various levels of governance.

The dialogue brought together 60 participants, including representatives from national, state, and local government bodies, research institutions, think tanks, and the private sector, alongside teams from WRI India and IIM Ahmedabad. Through group visioning exercises and sector-specific discussions, participants explored strategic transitions in energy, industry, transport, agriculture, and other key sectors.

The insights gathered have been synthesized into a document that outlines policy and financial intervention needs, as well as critical entry points for targeted research and capacity-building. This synthesis is intended to guide climate policy researchers and practitioners over the next three to four years, helping them align their efforts with India’s long-term climate goals and support more informed and effective climate action.
