Richa is a Senior Associate with the climate program at WRI India. Her role involves contributions to various projects of the climate program. With a comprehensive background as a Ph.D. scholar, Richa has developed diverse skills that includes research writing, adept utilization of data analysis software such as STATA, R and ArcGIS and conducting field surveys.

Prior to joining WRI India, Richa pursued her Ph.D. at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, focusing her research on the intersection of climate change and migration. Her thesis encompasses an examination of both national-level and local-level scenarios of climate-induced migration, providing a nuanced understanding of ground realities of the issue.

Richa holds a master’s degree in economics with a specialization in econometrics from Banaras Hindu University, where she achieved the distinction of being the course topper. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics honours from the University of Delhi. She has qualified national level examination NET and secured Junior/Senior Research Fellowship from UGC India during her Ph.D. Richa’s recent accomplishment includes a best paper award from Springer Nature and the National Institute of Disaster Management for her exemplary presentation of a thesis chapter.

Beyond her academic and professional pursuits, Richa spends her leisure time on creative stuffs such as Madhubani painting and poetry composition.
