Tanushree Venkatraman is the Senior Communications Manager, leading media engagement for WRI India. She is part of the Core Communications team, which oversees the strategy and outreach supporting WRI India’s leadership and program teams.

Tanushree joined WRI India in 2021 as Program Communications Manager - Transport. She managed communications for the integrated transport program, especially the road safety work under the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety and Fondation Botnar’s Youth Road Safety Challenge and Safer Commute to Schools Program across Mumbai, Rohtak, Delhi and Bengaluru. She is integral to the core team that initiated WRI India’s Annual Conference on Gender and Mobility - Uddeshya and the annual streets exhibition and convening - Namma Raste.

Tanushree comes with a rich experience in news reporting. Previously, she has worked as a Senior Correspondent with the Hindustan Times, writing extensively on urban transport and infrastructure in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. She started her career as a Correspondent with The Indian Express, Mumbai, covering civic issues in the city. She has also interned with many newspapers and online portals like Mid-Day and Firstpost.

A post-graduate in Mass Communication from the Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication, Pune, Tanushree also holds a Master’s in Fine Arts (Bharata Natyam) from the Sastra University in Tanjavur. A classical dancer by training, Tanushree regularly participates in several dance dramas and stage shows across the country. In her free time, she loves watching movies and spending time with her six-year-old son, Advait.
