Subzar Bashir is a Sr. Program Associate with Sustainable Cities and Transport team at WRI India. Based out of Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, he works with the Thriving Eco City-Regions Team on the formulation of Regional Planning Strategy for Srinagar Metropolitan Region. He coordinates with Srinagar Metropolitan Region Development Authority & Town Planning Organisation, Kashmir.

Before joining WRI India, Subzar worked as an Urban Planner at Town Planning Organisation Kashmir in connection with the preparation of various master plans and other policy documents for planned and balanced development of the Kashmir Valley. He has been associated with the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and worked for innovative strategies for growth and development along with policy and implementation tools in multiple agencies including Srinagar and Jammu Development Authorities. Through over nine years of professional experience, he has developed a keen interest in addressing the issues and challenges of urbanization faced by Himalayan Cities. He has been associated with key projects which inter-alia include Master Plans for Srinagar Metropolitan Region-2035, Jammu Metropolitan Region-2032, Rajouri Tourism Development Authority and Leh Ladakh etc.

Subzar holds a master’s in Urban & Regional Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad and another one in Urban Geography from University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
