Shweta Prajapati
Manager - Communications
As Communications Manager with Food, Land and Water program at WRI India, Shweta provides strategic communication support to the team, while developing impactful communication and managing program outreach.
Her professional journey has been driven by her passion for communicating on environmental issues with communities. With a focused interest on issues of climate change, agriculture, and water, she holds more than 10 years of experience in working with diverse local community groups like farmer collectives, women self-help groups and young girls in different Indian geographies not only as a communicator but also as a researcher. Prior to joining WRI India, Shweta worked with various organizations including CIPT-Columbia Water Centre, Development Alternatives, TERI School of Advanced Studies, ZMQ Development and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), among others.
Shweta holds a master’s in Development Communication and Extension from University of Delhi, specializing in environment communication, along with an educational training in research, governance, and public policy. At present, she is pursuing a PhD on climate policy in India at the Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi.
In her off time, she loves exploring places for their culture and food. Shweta is an ardent fiction reader, and also enjoys reading and writing Hindi and Urdu poetry.
