Shruti Maliwar is Senior Project Associate with Sustainable Cities and Transport at WRI India. Here, she focusses on developing strategies to integrate Urban Greening and nature-based solutions for long-term climate adaptation, specifically within vulnerable neighborhoods.

Prior to joining WRI, Shruti worked in research and design offices in The Netherlands and India, on urban and landscape projects. Her projects addressed the themes of ecology, circularity, and sustainable mobility using a participatory approach. This includes work towards the master planning of a redundant shopping mall complex in The Netherlands with a goal to make it energy neutral through climate responsive urban development guidelines. She also worked on a K-12 school project with an aim to integrate landscape as part of learning environment.

Shruti holds a master’s from Delft University of Technology, Urbanism Department, and a bachelor’s in Architecture from Kamala Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture. Most recently, she presented her on-going study exploring perceptions of safety and urban belonging in the practice of walking for women using research methods learnt at the NUS methods school.
