Shabna Seemamu
Program Associate - Urban Development
Shabna Seemamu is a Program Associate - Urban Development with the Sustainable Cities and Transport team at WRI India. She is based in Kochi, Kerala and her work focuses on the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative project which aims at re-imagining Fort Kochi through sustainable urban mobility, enhanced walkability and active public spaces, along with other key urban development projects. Her work includes research, stakeholder consultations, preparation of designs, coordination with agencies and managing implementation of the project.
Prior to joining WRI, Shabna worked at Martin Duplantier Architects, Paris, under the Young Architects and Urban Designers program, where as part of the Urban Design team she was involved in public space design, neighborhood development and master planning projects. Before that she worked as an Urban Design analyst in a team of consultants for the Smart City project in Kochi, under Cochin Smart Mission Limited. There, her expertise was in analysis, feasibility studies, project formulation, design and report preparation.
Shabna holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from College of Engineering, Trivandrum and a master’s degree in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi. Through over three years of professional experience, she has developed a keen interest in addressing urban challenges with an emphasis on human-centric design. Besides that, she is a keen traveler and a photography enthusiast.
