Ranjith Parvathapuram is a Senior Manager – Electric Mobility with the Sustainable Cities and Transport team at WRI India, where he leads various projects and research initiatives on electric mobility and public transport. He works closely with transit agencies in Bengaluru and Chennai to support in transition towards electric buses. His areas of interest include public transport policy, planning and operations, integrated mobility, and capacity building.

Ranjith has extensive experience in the field of sustainable urban transport. Prior to joining WRI, he worked with the GIZ SMART SUT team and managed the program in Coimbatore city. His primary role was to support the local government in improving the mobility scenario in the city. He achieved this by enabling the city authorities to prioritize active mobility projects as part of the smart city projects. One of his key contributions was initiating the safe school precincts project, a unique multistakeholder initiative that aimed to provide a safe and secure commute for school children. Before his work with GIZ, Ranjith worked on a world bank assignment for the Telangana Government and served as a Senior Transport Planner with ICLEI South Asia.

Ranjith holds a Master’s in Transport Planning and Management from Sheffield Hallam University and a bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from JNAFAU, Hyderabad.
