Senior Program Associate – Air Quality
Dr. Rahul Tiwari is the Senior Programme Associate – Clean Air Action, Sustainable Cities & Transport at WRI India. In this role, he provides technical assistance to urban local bodies in Indian cities, supporting and implementing multi-sectoral solutions to mitigate air pollution. His work focuses on scaling municipal air quality actions through capacity building and close collaboration with city governments to implement policies, processes, and projects aimed at enhancing air quality.
Before joining WRI India, Rahul gained extensive research experience in environmental and analytical chemistry. He worked as a Senior Project Associate at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute(CSIR-NEERI). There, he was deeply involved in several air quality and waste management projects, successfully completing projects for organizations such as UNEP, TATA, BPCL, HPCL, Aegis, Sealord, NGT, and TTZ.
Rahul holds a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. in chemistry from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Agra. He has published numerous national and international articles in renowned journals and presented his research findings at various conferences. He was also a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) of the University Grants Commission and is a reviewer for prestigious journals.
In his free time, Rahul enjoys socializing and volunteer work. His interests also include traveling and watching movies.
