Pranav Garimella is a program manager in the Climate Program at WRI India where he works on advancing sub-national climate action through research-based planning, capacity building, and engagement. His current focus involves tracking budgetary expenditure towards climate action, mainstreaming climate action in budgetary processes in India and building capacities within government to use climate budget tools and models.

Before joining WRI, Pranav worked at Bharti Institute of Public Policy, where he wrote academic papers and case studies on issues such as gendered impacts of climate change, migration due to climate change, impacts of industrial development on ecologically sensitive areas, etc. He has also worked in government consulting with EY, think tanks, and academic institutions.

He completed his Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Sydney in 2019 with a focus on climate change policy, sustainability, and climate related policies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law (B.A. LLB.) from Christ University, Bangalore after which he briefly practiced as an advocate in the High Court of Bombay.

Pranav enjoys listening to podcasts on the history of war, politics, and public policy, apart from reading Greek epics such as the works of Homer. He loves to play basketball and spend time with his pet cat.
