Paramjeet Chawla, an Urban Economist with WRI India's Cities Team, focuses on economic geography, development, quality of life, gender, and urban impact assessments. Prior to WRI, Paramjeet's experience spanned academia and development. She served as an Assistant Professor (Economics) at IILM and a content creator for OneClass.

Additionally, she held research consultant, data analyst, and teaching assistant roles at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and was a senior researcher at the Institute for Competitiveness, contributing to media and policy research. She also worked with a social startup, Outline India.

Paramjeet holds a Ph.D. in Development Studies (TISS), an M.Phil. (Development Studies) from TISS, an M.A. (Development Economics) from South Asian University, and a B.A. (Economics) from Lady Shri Ram College for Women (University of Delhi). Her research on inequality, human development, economic geography, cities, and gender has been published in journals, books, and reports.

Outside of work, Paramjeet enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, or audiobooks, learning dance forms, and painting.
