Nirmala Mathew is Senior Manager in the WRI India Executive Office, where she works with the CEO, the Director-Strategy and Program teams on creating initiative-wise strategy narratives, proposals for large grants and strengthening implementation of the organizational strategy.

Nirmala comes to WRI with 11 years of experience in leading research, knowledge management, and evaluation assignments for multilateral, CSR, and philanthropic stakeholders across themes of adolescent empowerment, child protection, nutrition, education, health, livelihoods, and gender and spanning multi-state geographies (so far, she has travelled to around 70 districts across India). She has previously worked at Samhita Social Ventures and New Concept Information Systems.

Nirmala holds a Masters in Development Practice from University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies and a Masters in Organic Chemistry from Wilson College, University of Mumbai.

Nirmala enjoys reading, gardening, and cooking/baking experiments.
