Madhura Kulkarni
Senior Program Associate - Transport
Madhura Kulkarni is a Senior Program Associate - Transport with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. She works on projects related to young children-oriented development in Indian cities, road safety, street and junction design, public space design and community engagement projects.
Madhura comes with an experience in sustainable mobility, street and junction design. She has worked as urban design consultant with Parisar, an NGO in Pune and Sustainable Urban Mobility Network (SUMNet India) on various street and junction design projects in 11 cities across six states in India. Her work, so far, focused on stakeholder consultation, and capacity building workshops for government and non-government organizations. She has also worked with Prasanna Desai Architects in close association with Pune Municipal corporation and Pune Smart city on Pune smart city street design project.
Madhura holds a master’s in Urban Design from School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal and bachelor’s in Architecture from Nagpur University. Her master’s thesis on settlement affected by Bhopal Gas tragedy was awarded with the Best Thesis Award. She was a gold medalist both the times.
Madhura is passionate about inclusive and people-centric design. She usually walks or cycles with a sketchbook and likes traveling.
