Kanika is a Senior Program Associate, Electric Mobility with the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India, based out of New Delhi. She works on a variety of projects related to electric mobility, last mile connectivity, inclusive mobility, low-emission zones, and overall sustainable and equitable development in Indian cities. Her work involves core engagements with government and non-government stakeholders, along with high-level research writing and project management.


Prior to joining WRI India, Kanika worked as a research associate for the Opportunities for Climate Mitigation and Sustainable Development (OPTIMISM) project at Ahmedabad University. There she worked on the impact of urban transport on Sustainable Development Goals. During her time at The Urban Catalysts, Kanika worked as an associate transport planner and led research projects on gender-responsive urban transportation. Her internship at The Urban Lab enhanced her knowledge of designing streets and junctions.


Kanika holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning, with a specialization in Transportation Planning, and a Bachelor’s in Planning from CEPT University. Her areas of interest are sustainable development, public transport planning, transportation research and design, and policymaking. Her skills include high-quality mapping, data analysis, and visual communication.


Kanika is passionate about music and is trained in Indian classical vocals. In her free time, she enjoys singing and playing the ukulele.
