Jayavartheni Krishnakumar is a Program Associate with WRI India’s Sustainable Cities and Transport team. Her work focuses on promoting the adoption of public transport in Indian cities through financing strategies, governance improvements, enhanced last-mile connectivity, and policies that prioritize equity in urban mobility. Her recent projects include studying the financing of Indian State Transport Undertakings (STUs) and supporting research for the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, 2023.

Before joining WRI India, Jaya was an urban fellow at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements, where she focused on the livelihoods of cyclists in Bangalore and active mobility policies in Indian cities. She holds a B.Arch from Anna University, specializing in Urban Design, Planning, and Climate-friendly Building Practices.

Outside of work, Jaya enjoys exploring Bangalore with friends, attending live music performances, sketching, and discovering cozy restaurants around the city.
