Gaurav Tomar
Senior Program Associate - Air Quality
Gaurav Tomar is a senior program research associate with the Air Quality team for the Sustainable Cities and Transport program at WRI India. He is currently working on Surat Clean Air Action Program and conducts research that includes air pollution monitoring, micro-level emission estimation, and identifying exposure hotspots.
Before joining WRI, Gaurav worked at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as a research scholar, focusing on air pollution from basic infrastructure sectors in an urban-rural district. Previously, he has also worked in other prestigious institutions in India, including the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and NEPA Limited.
Gaurav is currently enrolled as a part time PhD scholar at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The core of his research work is developing novel methodologies for microlevel emission estimation, especially in small Indian cities and rural areas. Apart from this, his research work also includes health impacts and socioeconomic equity in contribution and exposure attributed to air pollution. He holds a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee.
Gaurav represented his university basketball team during his graduation years. In his free time, he likes to play outdoor sports and read fiction.
