Dr. Parveen Kumar
Program Head - Sustainable Batteries
Dr. Parveen Kumar is a Program Head-Sustainable Batteries at WRI India under the Cities and Transport program. Currently, he is associated with projects related to Electric Vehicles, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Critical Minerals, and Circular Economy. He has previously worked at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and has received a Ph. D. from JMI, New Delhi. He has more than 17 years of post-PhD experience in science, technology, and policy research.
His research concentrates on the technology and policy need assessment related to clean technologies which include Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles, Solar Energy, and Rare Earths. He has also worked on basic R & D projects, where the focus was on the development of novel electrode and electrolyte materials for advanced batteries using a computer simulation approach (Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Molecular Dynamics (MD) Simulation). He has worked in the solar energy domain, leading the SEI (Solar Energy Integration) thrust of the SERIIUS (Solar Energy Research Institute for India and the United States) project.
He was a member of the Electrotechnology sectional committee (ETD-51) for standardization of charging infrastructure, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) (2017-2018); Invitee in NITI Aayog`s committee about Rare Earths (2016-2017); Life member of Chemical Research of Society of India (CRSI); Review editor of Frontiers in Energy Research. He has published several peer-reviewed papers in reputed international journals and conferences and has also published a book chapter, reports, and articles in leading magazines.
