Deepti Talpade
Program Lead - Urban Development and Resilience
Deepti Talpade is a Program Lead, Urban Development and Resilience at WRI India. Her work at the institute focuses on enabling an environment for nature-based solutions (NBS) for climate resilience.
She contributes to the ‘Urban Greening, Biodiversity and NBS’ portfolio in the organization by implementing NBS pilots and influencing institutional mechanisms.
Her current practice at WRI India and previous affiliations with not-for-profit organizations like Aga Khan Agency for Habitat India, Society for the Promotion of Area Resource Centers (SPARC), Pani Haq Samiti, Institute for Sustainability, London, etc.; have developed her work experience in bottom-up equitable approaches for environmental improvement.
She was a consultant for GIZ, for creating a greening plan for Coimbatore as a part of the national Climate Smart Cities program. Her engagement with the Development Plan 2014-34 for Mumbai and issues related to housing in the city, have built her experience in city scale policies and regulatory processes.
Through her work at the institute, she has conducted capacity building workshops as a part of ‘Leaders for Climate Change Management’ and ‘Accelerating Climate Action in Maharashtra’ programs for city officials in India.
Deepti holds a Bachelor’s as well as a Master’s in Architecture (Urban Design) from KRVIA, Mumbai University and an M.Sc. in Urban Management from the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies, Erasmus University, Netherlands.
She loves visiting forests, frequently reads books in the outdoors and is passionate about art.
