Deepti Raj
Senior Associate - Research, Data and Impact
Deepti Raj is a Senior Associate with the Research, Data, and Impact (RDI) team at WRI India. Her research focuses on social and economic inequalities related to climate change, migration, livelihoods, urbanization, and spatial segregation.In her role as Research Coordinator, Deepti helps implement WRI’s Human Subjects protocol to ensure ethical research practices. She assists in field data collection, supports capacity-building efforts, and organizes research seminars and workshops. She is also involved in WRI’s research on climate resilience and migration.
Deepti has worked with government agencies, policy think tanks, academic institutions, and NGOs. She started her career as a communication professional with the Delhi Jal Board, contributing to international projects, including those funded by JICA. Before joining WRI, she worked at the Centre for Policy Research, New Delhi, on projects related to water and sanitation, affordable housing, urbanization, migration, and residential segregation. She has also worked at IIM Ahmedabad on urban growth studies and at the Hyderabad Urban Lab on demographic research related to slums and access to services.
Deepti holds a Post Graduate degree in Public Policy from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad, a PG Diploma from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, and an undergraduate degree in Mass Communication. She has also completed a certificate course in Data Science from the University of Göttingen, Germany.
In her free time, Deepti enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and socializing.
