Amrita Chakraborty
Senior Program Associate - Urban Development
Amrita Chakrabortyis a Senior Program Associate in the Urban Development team of Sustainable Cities and Transportation at WRI India. Here, she is engaged in environmental planning and resilience related work and is involved in the vulnerability and resilience assessment of Mumbai and Kochi.
Prior to joining WRI, she worked for six years as an Urban and Environmental Planner in sectors pertaining to Climate Resilience, Urban Sustainability, Urban Policy development and Impact Evaluation of Urban and Infrastructure schemes, plans and projects. She handled projects funded by international donor agencies such as World Bank, Department for International Development, Asian Development Bank and Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Amrita’s work experience spans over varied types of organization that includes Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate, GOI, Pricewaterhouse and Coopers Pvt. Ltd., and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
She holds a bachelor’s in Geography from University of Calcutta and a Master’s in Geography from Delhi School of Economics. She specialized in Environmental Planning with a Master’s in Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad in2012.
In her free time, Amrita likes to paint, read books and engage in recitation. She is also interested in dramatics and photography.
